THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL

I am bit disappointed by this new trailer of the Day The Earth Stood Still. It looks goo right, but so much destruction, so much violence... Bye, bye pacifism! Welcome terrorism and mass destruction! Not that a great change...

Anyway it won't hinder me from appreciating this new version of The Day The Earth Stood Still starring Keanu Reeves.

The Day The Earth Stood Still 5 Minute Trailer

A new 5 minute trailer of The Day The Earth Stood Still has shown up:

This year when they come the sky will go dark,
the cities will go quiet,
the Earth will stand still.

THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL

I think Hollywood should make a tradition of releasing an awesome science-fiction movie during the Christmas period. Last year it was I Am Legend with Will Smith, this year it will be The Day The Earth Stood Still with Keanu Reeves.

To the fans of the earlier version: do not expect a faithful remake. Director Scott Derrickson is giving us a brand new take on The Day The Earth Stood Still.

Keanu Reeves is freaking me out as the omnipotent alien Klaatu but I Love his performance in The Day The Earth Stood Still!

We thought we were owning Earth:
We were wrong...

THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL

Even if atomic bombs may have been replaced by man-caused environmental disaster I have great hopes for this movie.

Besides Keanu Reeves is an accomplished actor who will add his personal touch to the cult character of Klaatu. And last but not least, Gort, the science-fiction robot, is as kitsch as in the 1950's and I love it!

The Day The Earth Stood Still in December 2008

The Day The Earth Stood Still. The Day The Earth Stood Still is a remake of the classic 1951 sci-fi movie by Robert Wise.
Remakes of cult films are just crap more often than not.
But the presence of Keanu Reeves in the cast makes me confident that this movie will be of a high standard.
The movie should be released in December 2008.

Here the plot of the original movie, Keanu Reeves version should not be that much different:
Alien civilizations have been monitoring mankind: beacuse Earth is entering in its atomic era the aliens are scared that the warring nations will bring discord and violence to space.
So an ambassador, Klaatu (Keanu reeves), is sent to Earth in a flying saucer. A robot, Gort, comes with Klaatu to oversee his protection.
Landing on the Ellipse in President's Park, Washington, DC, Klaatu declares he has come in peace on a mission of goodwill but he is shot and wounded by a nervous soldier.
What will happens to Earth?

To help you wait for Keanu Reeves, enjoy the original movie (here).

And don't forget what Klaatu said: “Klaatu barada nikto!”
